Community Tree Planting

On Sunday a wonderful group of intrepid Wildlings joined us on the land to plant 420 trees gifted to us by The Woodland Trust. Storm Kathleen was in full blow, and with hoods up but hearts open we worked together to plant the trees. Some of us were allocated hole diggers, others composters and the rest of us popped the trees into the ground, added cardboard and a protective cover to help protect them from hungry deer and rabbits. Working as a well-oiled machine, we completed the planting in 90 minutes leaving plenty of time to share tea, homemade cake and conversation.

I was completely overwhelmed by the response and the amount of people who gave up their Sunday mornings to join us in the wind and the rain. It felt like a true community event as we came together, people of all ages, to enact positive change and implement something that future generations will enjoy and reap the benefits from.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to help.
