With Effie Oram
a relaxed introduction to knitting

“My yarn and I are very similar - as it begins to unwind, so do I”
Join us at Wildling Studio as we learn the traditional, mindful craft of knitting with local artist Effie Oram.
Take a moment in the calm of the studio surrounded by fellow Wildlings to learn a new skill or fine tune an existing one as we explore colour, repeat patterns and design, inspired by the beautiful natural wonders around us.
We will be using a yarn of wool and alpaca, a lovely mix which is easy to work with. Effie will show us how to cast on, cast off and the basic knit stitch to get us going. After demonstrations and lots of time to practice, you will end up with a lovely cup cosy to take away, perfect for that warming cup of tea on a brisk winter walk.
We will of course pause for a warm drink and delicious sweet treats as is customary at the studio!
Take some time out for yourself, or enjoy the morning making memories with a friend. All tools and materials provided with all abilities welcome.

Find out more about Effie Oram
I have lived in the Wiltshire countryside my whole life, with a backdrop of farmland and rolling hills, it was fitting therefore that I should end up married to a farmer and living only a stones throw from home.
My husband and I live on his family farm in the Pewsey Vale, with our two sons, where I spend my time knitting up a plethora of woollen accessories and homewears.
Having tried my hand at many different jobs over the years I eventually spent a fair time as a retail manager before settling at home to raise our family, I now know I am much more suited to a slow life, expressing myself through creative outlets and helping others to find theirs.
I learnt to knit not long after my first son was born, there was no looking back, it’s such a calming process, with endless possibilities. From the smallest decoration to more elaborate jumpers, every piece is knitted by hand using only the most delicious of yarn, to share this passion with others is something I’m only too happy to do.
