Beginner’s Pottery Course

Start your pottery journey as you learn from Wildling Studio’s resident ceramicist Sarah Glazier-Hart.

As a beginner, you'll learn the basic skills and techniques of working with clay in a relaxed and supportive environment. Each week Sarah will guide you through a new project, an exploration into hand-building methods such as coiling, pinch pots, and slab building. With her expert guidance, you’ll explore different shapes and textures to create unique ceramic pieces you'll be proud to take home or to give to your loved ones. Whether you're looking for a fun activity to do with a friend or want to try something new on your own, the peace and tranquility of Wildling Studio is the perfect place to unwind and discover your creativity.

Once you have completed this course you’ll be able to access our open studio sessions to work on your own creations.

Week 1, Monday 9th - a focus on pinching

Week 2, Monday 16th - a focus on coiling

Week 3, Monday 23rd - a focus on slab construction

Week 4, Monday 30th - an exploration into glazing and firing

During each session there will be tea, coffee and a sweet treat provided.

Sarah is the resident studio potter here at Wildling Studio. She has over 12 years of teaching experience within public, private and charity sectors.

Sarah’s hand built, functional ceramics are made from high-fired flecked stoneware, ensuring her pieces are suitable for everyday use. She wants her work to be handled and used, so that everyday tasks are imbued with joy and pleasure.​ Sarah’s desire to make functional pieces results in ceramics that explore the balance between fragility and strength, with each bespoke piece exhibiting her signature soft colour pallet.
